Mission

The Biobank for Cancer and Rare Diseases serves as the central institution of the national biobanking infrastructure BBMRI.sk, through which it coordinates, supports, and connects its partner institutions. It actively contributes to the development of excellence in biomedical research and precision medicine by implementing the systematic and standardised collection, processing, and long-term storage of human biological samples in accordance with international quality standards.

The primary mission of the biobank is to provide access to high-quality biological samples and related data for research into cancer and rare diseases, including innovative fields such as liquid biopsy. In this way, the biobank makes a significant contribution to the advancement of modern diagnostics and the implementation of personalised treatment approaches for patients.
