Mission

The Biobank of the Louis Pasteur University Hospital Košice systematically collects, processes, stores, and analyses human biological samples linked to patients’ clinical data. Its mission is to support clinical and translational research aimed at advancing personalised medicine.

Focus Areas

  • Focused on clinical research in the following areas:
    • infectious diseases
    • neurological disorders
    • onco-haematological diseases
    • regenerative medicine
    • transplantation medicine

Collections

  • DNA/RNA, cell swabs, semen samples, urine, aspirates, FFPE samples, stool
  • Linked clinical data

Unique Strengths

  • 30 years of experience in tissue banking and biobanking
  • Integration with the hospital information system

Services

Based on extensive experience in the processing and storage of a wide range of biological materials:

  • Isolation of nucleic acids from a broad spectrum of biological samples
  • Isolation and cultivation of cell subpopulations
  • Storage (−20 °C, −80 °C, LN₂ vapour phase)
  • Multiplex RT-PCR

Access Policy

  • Project partners – approval by the Ethics Committee of Louis Pasteur University Hospital Košice
  • Contractual partners – approval by the relevant ethics committee
  • Provision of samples and data based on MTA/DTA agreements
